Unauthorized and ******** activity by FNB

After opening a credit card account with FNB in January 2018 (37 days prior to writing this review) the bank has decided to hand my account over for collection as a result of a multitude of mistakes made on my account by FNB. Note this is my first ever form of credit and is now reflecting terribly on my credit score all thanks to FNB's *********** staff that I've dealt with thus far.

After purchasing a phone at the iStore on an FNB contract my straight facility limit was split in half and a portion transferred to a budget facility that I never had prior to this purchase. This was 100% done without authorization or any notification.

On top of this an auto payment was set on my account to debit my accounts, including my normal cheque account, for the FULL amount owed to the bank instead of the MINIMUM amount as per the 24 month contact of the phone. As a result FNB has now debited my accounts for over R10,000 towards payment for this phone all within a period of 3 weeks.

Another repercussion that these unauthorized actions had on my account is the decreased limit on my straight facility which I was never notified off. Between the time of the change in my limit and the time when my pending expenses succeeded I had managed to go over what I'm now being told was my new limit. If I knew this limit was quite literally cut in half I could have monitored my spending better to ensure nothing would be spent over the limit but I was never notified and now my account reflects an over spend of roughly R3000 for which I've been handed over, also without ANY notification.

This is ******** and ********* practices on the banks part and we've probably spoken to over 12 consultants at FNB in person, telephonicly and via email.. none of which have been able to really assist us in rectifying the matter as the accounts been handed over.

As if this isn't enough the service received from the majority of consultants has been shocking. Not only are half of them *********** but these consultants have the worst attitudes for people working in the service industry. One consultant from the collections department that I spoke with last night even laughed and imp**** that I was the *********** one. Since when is this kind of behavior acceptable may I ask?

I expect FNB to sort this matter out very soon as I'm sick and tired of waiting around for a response from someone. An sms or three, weeks after these mistakes and unauthorized actions have take place is definitely not sufficient communication on FNB's part.
