UNAUTHORISED DEBIT ORDERS! SKYLAB AND ROVINGJET

So today I called FNB to enquire about two debit orders that have been going off my EASY SAVINGS ACCOUNT for the past 2 months. Reference names are SKYLAB ( MY ID NUMBER) and ROVINGJET. The lady I spoke to checked for me and could not identify who the Rovingjet debit was coming from and the skylab one she said I should call the South African Payment Exchange. I called the SAPE and I gave them the reference name for skylab and they said it’s a company called skyab communications – she gave me a number to call and when I tried to call them no one answered. What concerns me is that I then did a google search on skylab and rovingjet and there were a number of complaints online all from FNB customers. This then says to me that FNB is busy giving out our details – our details are not there for you to just distribute to anyone and have those people charge us for promotions or whatever it is. I know that NO ONE has my details to my easy savings account as it is a savings account only FNB has these details. I am very angry at the fact that the lady I spoke to at FNB said in order for me to block these accounts I need to do it myself and still pay R5 for this – I do not understand why firstly I have to pay for blocking things that FNB authorised on my account without my consent and secondly that I have to be going through this admin process. What I want is my money back as I trusted FNB with my money and how dare FNB open my account for people to take what they want without my consent. Should this not get resolved I will take further steps as I do not understand why FNB has not addressed this if people have been complaining from January. Everyone please be aware of FNB and their sneaky debits – it’s totally unacceptable and *********!

Dear katlego-katz-monareng,

Thank you for your review.

Unfortunately we are not able to help you with the debit order that has gone off your account. We are not party to the agreement between you and the entity originating the debit order and you must cancel the debit order authority directly with this entity. You can contact these companies to find out who authorized them to deduct the funds from your account.

We will, for a period of six months, endeavour to ensure that the debit order is not debited from your account. We can do so by placing a stop payment on the debit order which will attract a charge.

Please also note that should the amount, description or debit order code change, the debit will still go off your account hence we advise you to contact these entities to cancel the debit order with them.

Please also be aware that FNB will never divulge our clients details to any third party companies.

Your comments have been referred to Premier banking to make contact with you regarding this matter, your complaint ref ***,

Regards
