Unauthorised debit orders
FNB put through debit orders whenever they feel like it. When I sign a form for a debit order there is a date when it should go off. FNB put through a debit order that was supposed to go off on the 1st of the month, on the 24th in the early hours of the morning. There were no funds so FNB immediately reversed it and penalised me for it. This is theft as I have no control over the debit order and I am not given the opportunity to rectify or reverse the debit order. The really stupid part is the debit order was R195 and the penalty fee is R185. FNB are happy to put me into overdraft for their fee of R185 but not prepared to honour the R195. So they do not think I am good for R10.
It is so frustrating, I have lost thousands due to FNB doing this to me, mostly due to their poor IT systems taking so long to clear funds from other banks. Capitec do not charge for returned debit orders BTW, they also transfer funds immediately to and from other banks, they are a mature bank that understand their customers and circumstances.
