Unauthorised debit orders
I have lost count how many times I have complained about unauthorised debit orders in my account. After I noticed that another debit order for R299 was made in my account today, I contacted the bank so that they can furnish me with the contact details of the company concerned. To my surprised, the banker could not tell me the name of the company, their address or contact numbers. I was told that the bank still needs to investigate and I will get the information in the next 5-7 working days. What is strange is that how can the bank approve a debit order from a company which they cannot readily provide its details. I believe when someone cashes a cheque from the bank, the account holder can readily be told who withdrew the funds. There will be no need to investigate anything because all precautions for withdrawal would have been followed. In terms of these unauthorised debit orders, I think the bank continues to be negligent and lax because it is making money out of our miseries. Recently I was charged R18.50 to stop an unauthorised debit order. Judging by this, the bank is making millions, if not billions of rand, from its clients. Since I have been complaining endlessly about this, why does the bank not investigate this unauthorised debit order and take appropriate action. Like I said before, it does not help to continue reversing these unauthorised transaction. After the bank has investigated these debit orders, I need to be informed what action has the bank taken because it seems it is the same company or people who are debiting my account. Why must the bank allow a transaction which they cannot trace immediately to go through? The bank is negligent and should be charged for this. If you own a restaurant, you cannot allow your patrons to ****** at your premises. But the bank is turning a blind eye in the continuous ******* of its clients. This is wrong!
