Unauthorised Cancellation of Debt Protection Plan's on Revolving Loans

Usually we have excellent service from FNB, however regarding our Revolving Loans we received a single ***** sms that we thought was a ********** request to authorise debit orders that were already exisiting for over a year and ignored it as no phone calls were received, no emails from FNB and no notifications on the banking app - due to all the Phishing and ***** we were not prepared to authorise something that could not be verified by the usual FNB channels.

However to our surprise this last week at the end of January we received another single “sms” advising that our Debt Protection Plans with our Revolving Loans had been cancelled over the holiday period on the 20th December with no extra notice and without our consent, more than a month after it had been done.

Now we have to sit through a sales call to re-activate something that shouldn’t have been cancelled in the first place after we have queried the situation ourselves – shouldn’t we have received the phone call first as an existing paying customer??

With all the Phishing and ***** that we are being warned about a single sms over the holiday period with less than a few weeks’ notice is unacceptable. If my Husband and I had known that no protection would be offered with our Loans with FNB, or would be retracted without our consent at a time that such things will be overlooked, we would have gone with other service providers.

This is a terrible and ************* treatment of customers that have requested a service that was paid for and revoked with no proper explanation or acceptable warning.

Regards,

L Heyns
