*****ULANT TRANSACTIONS ON CREDIT CARD - NO FEEDBACK
Case nr *** On 2 April 2026 a person claiming that she is phoning from FNB card division said that my credit card was cloned and that I need to stop this card and that they will deliver a new card the next day. We subsequently cancelled the card. She further instructed me to create new login details om my FNB Online banking with a password that was sent to me which I did. Then she requested that we create a Virtual credit card to reverse the "*****ulant" transcations. A total of R200,000 was ******.. While we were on the line with this person, I contacted FNB ***** and I was told to cut the call immediately which I did. I was transfered to the ***** department and the whole situation was explained and a case nr was given. I was told that someone will contact me within 7 to 14 days. I have not received any feedback and it has been more than a month. What I cannot understand is why the transactions could not be stopped immediately as I was speaking to the ***** department while the phising was happening. In fact the transactions were only confimred 2 days later. Please contact me URGENTLY to sort out this issue. The money that was ****** is part of my pension and I am financially dependent on the interest that I received every month. I am at the point that I might need to sell some of my assets in order to survive monthly.
Ombudsman Case nr ***
Good day
We have received feedback from FNB with regards to our complaint, but we are not satisfied with the reply. Only R7000 of our R200,000 was refunded, the letter explaining the reason for the refund was sent to an incorrect email address, and it took them a month and a half to give us a refund and we had to phone and ask why only R7000 as to which we received a reply that a letter was sent. We feel that only R7000 of R200000 is not enough. Apparently a Goodwill payment. FNB also took their time in completing the investigation. We have lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman.
We saw in Maroela Media excatly the same case that happened to someone else, according to them ABSA refunded the full amount.
