Their branches are a terrible workplace. Their contact centres are pretty decent, though.
One of the worst employment experiences of my life. I've worked for the bank for over four years and thrived and then i decided to make a switch an External banking (Staffing solutions/OBR) position they had advertised. One of the biggest mistakes anyone can make in their careers. At branch level, it is authoritarian rule led by *********** management who only got their positions by virtue of the color of their skin. During the hiring process, you're sold an idea that you will be given an opportunity to contribute to the success of the team through your knowledge and experience. You're told there's an opportunity to grow and that they'll fill your calendar daily to meet prospect clients and increase your earnings. I've worked there long enough to know that this career path is experimental and management have no idea what they're doing. Accepting this position would be bad for your career. If you have any ambition at all, you want to work in a culture that's inclusive, and where your ideas are at least heard. I've experienced the absolute opposite of a high performing team. As an external banker, you're required to use your own vehicle to meet clients and offer them banking solutions. That's fair enough but imagine you have to do all that driving in your own vehicle and you're unable to claim for your petrol for whatever reason. Given the fact that you will hardly have busy weeks, your earnings will very much be underwhelming due to non-existent appointments. Mind you, appointments are supposed to be set up by management. It's part of the agreement. They hire experienced individuals only to ruin their careers as they have nothing to offer. This position, as an experienced banker, belongs to newly grads getting their feet in the workforce. Long story short, the grass is not green here, even if you water it. Artificial grass?
