The worst bank by far
FNB customer service is honestly some of the worst I have experienced. I made a payment on my account and, after engaging a consultant, I was told that I still had almost R500 outstanding. I paid the amount immediately. The consultant then deleted the chat history from the chat, but fortunately I took screenshots beforehand. Despite this, my account has now been flagged as being in arrears, which makes absolutely no sense given that I followed their instructions and settled what I was told was outstanding. To make matters worse, I was instructed by an FNB consultant to pay money into a converted Fusion account, which I was told was my revolver. The payment kept failing with an error, which is why I contacted chat support in the first place. That same interaction led to me being told to pay the additional R500 — which I did — yet I’m now being penalised for FNB’s own misinformation and system issues. What’s most concerning is the complete lack of accountability and protection for customers. Consultants provide incorrect or conflicting information, there’s no proper verification, and when things go wrong, the customer carries the consequences. It genuinely feels like anyone can access or submit information on your account and FNB will accept it without properly confirming it with you. FNB provides zero service, zero protection, and very little care for its customers. Issues are not resolved, records conveniently disappear, and customers are left to fix problems they didn’t create — often with real financial and credit consequences. For a major bank, this level of service is unacceptable. I would not recommend FNB to anyone who values transparency, accountability, or basic customer support.
