The ************ business of a bank

You know it is very funny how banks work at times. They do business how it suits them. When I purchased a property in a sectional title,I was asked if there was a body corporate and to provide details of the body corporate which I did.Now I app**** to have access to funds in my future use amount, was supp**** with a form,I completed and provide all the details required and was told that this will be approved subject to a valuation of my property. That was done. Now I was requested to supply financials of the body corporate for the current year. This is where it gets interesting. When I app**** for the bond, the bank did not request for those financials, but approved the bond. Now that I need further access to the funds there is red tape. I have no problem with furnishing these except that the body corporate is not keeping books and has not been audited for the past three years(I just found that out now when I tried to get hold of these requested financials). But I know I pay levies every month. My question and problem is, why did the bank approve the bond in the first place is they were not going to do a proper due diligence on the body corporate themselves because they knew this is a requirement if one needs access to funds and also to make sure that they are bonding a property that is well maintained and their investment is secure. Now that it suits the bank, they require these documents, which by the way no where in the application form it says they will require them.

Let me talk about the ombudsman.Well the ombudsman story is another story in itself, very useless.I have calling their offices since last week to try and report the matter so the body corporate can be made to comply. The phone is not answered in that office, makes you wonder what are they there for.

The above issue is concerning to me as I view this a tactic to deny me access to these funds despite the fact that, in principle after a credit check I qualify for to have access to these funds and should be granted access accordingly. Please can you tell me how is this fair from a customer point .In my view I think you should have requested financials of the body corporate right from when the transaction was initiated so as to avoid any further problems in future, now it seems I am the one at fault where as the bank also overlooked some factors in an endeavor to approve the transaction because they knew that the business I was bringing them is the kind of business they need in their books and all banks fight for asset based financing business.
