The tale of two banks

Instead of a review I would like to give you the following comparison: My purse was ****** two weeks ago with my ID and drivers licence inside. I went to FNB on Saturday 23 April to apply for a new debit card but was denied due to a lack of identification. Having received my new ID in the interim I went again today, where I stood in a long queue only to be told it would take a week for my new card to arrive at the branch (I'm assuming the queue will be equally long when I collect the card in a week's time). However, on the same Saturday I went to Capitec, after FNB had closed. I was greeted, and SEATED, and helped in-store in under 10 minutes. They used my finger prints to identify me. I left the branch and IMMEDIATELY had access to my funds. Which helped a lot in getting new identification by the way. Surely this cannot be the first time FNB is confronted with this situation. Losing everything is difficult enough without red tape that limits access to your own money for 3 weeks. What baffles me the most is I used the same finger print machine today at FNB. I asked the lady helping me if this could be used to identify customers and she said: "maybe in a few years time". That pretty much sums it up. Capitec is literally years ahead of FNB.
