The One Account is a complete mess!!!

We opened our One Account to accommodate a home loan, our cars etc about 12 years ago. The term was for the normal 20 years, which means that we should have only 8 years left to pay. HOWEVER, even with the monthly repayments going through, our outstanding balance has remained the same for over 2 years! The limit should be reduced irrespective of the account being in a debit or credit balance. If it continues to operate in this manner, then the term would extend to infinity and the facility will never be reduced to a point where the loan has been effectively paid off. I have enquired with numerous staff over the last 2 years to advise me on how the original amount has decreased and how many months are still remaining, however no-one seems to know how to work this out and cannot tell me when our capital will be fully paid up. I consequently resorted to applying for a conversion from the One Account to a Bond account and to my supprise the conversion to a bond account is actually just a new bond, not a conversion as the application form states. This new bond takes the form of a traditional bond and I have to start all over with a new repayment structure and the new capital amount is 2.41% more than my current facility on my one account. It has a new interest rate and the normal 240 months to repay the bond, which essentially means that all the amounts that I have been paying towards my consolidated debt via the One Account is waisted!! What has happened to the R500 odd thousand that I have paid off to date (over 12 years mind you!!) No one can provide me with answers. FNB needs to seriously investigate this as it seems as if the only way to get out of the One Account is to start all over again with a new bond which just means that you are subject to a new capital amount that needs to paid from scratch!! I refuse to be subject to more debt via a bond account. A conversion from the One Account to a Bond account should be just that - take my current outstanding amount on my One Account and bond that, not a brand new bond!

Someone senior needs to be aware of this, as the One Account is not serving its purpose and it should be addressed as a matter of urgency.
