The more things change the more they remain the same
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the process of closing my FNB account, which has proven to be unnecessarily frustrating and inefficient.
According to the FNB app, my account reflects no outstanding balances and all amounts are shown as cleared. However, when engaging with an FNB advisor, I am advised that I need to wait a further two days before the account can be closed due to internal system processing. This discrepancy between what is visible to me as a client and what the internal systems reflect is unacceptable.
It is difficult to understand how the client facing application and FNB internal systems do not align. If an amount is reflected as cleared on my side, I should not be prevented from closing my account based on information that is neither transparent nor visible to me.
Based on past experience, I am also concerned that this request will not be processed within the stated timeframe. The account closure process should be straightforward, especially when there are no outstanding balances, yet it has become a headache that requires repeated follow ups.
I request clear confirmation of the exact reason for the delay, alignment between the app and internal systems, and a firm commitment on when my account will be closed. This should not require further waiting or additional intervention from my side.
I trust this matter will be treated with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
