Terrible service for a relatively SIMPLE request.

Account was made "dormant" due to inactivity. That's fine, I live abroad and I don't use it often. HOWEVER, trying to make it active again so I can send some money home, but calling their online banking division (a VERY expensive international call) turns out to be useless.

After almost 30 minutes on the phone, all they've done is transfer me from one consultant to the next. No one knows what to do. Finally, a very rude and annoyed sounding lady tells me to "send my personal info to ***." Doesn't specify what info or what the process will be. Scoffs at me when I ask. Two days later and my account is still inactive, without any contact from FNB whatsoever.

FNB, your service is unacceptable, and I'm seriously considering switching banks when I visit South Africa again. How is this process not streamlined yet? Pathetic.

It is now 5 days later, and STILL I have received no assistance from FNB apart from 2 emails saying "We are sorry, we have escalated your complaint." Meanwhile, I can't access my bank account, I'm locked out of my own ******* money. FNB, your customer service is pathetic. absolutely pathetic. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm considering some sort of legal action at this point.

Another update, it is now January 28th, a full 11 DAYS after making this complaint, and more than 2 weeks since I started trying to resolve this issue. The issue has been escalated and escalated and still not resolved. I can't access my money, I can't send money home, I can't do anything with my own bank account. Even after sending them the required proof of identity 5 days ago, they still haven't unfrozen my bank account. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced, ITS WORSE THAN EVEN TELKOM AND ESKOM's. That's a pretty low bar. Good job FNB, after banking with you for over 10 years, you've lost this customer for good.
