Terrible customer service and overall experience so far

So far it has been close to a nightmare. That is for the past 3-4 weeks since my online application for a gold check account, which approved on the phone.

To enable the card / account is a challenge of note, and im in IT for the past 33 years. Their instruction with the delivered (eventually) card is incorrect or at least missing a key step - you HAVE TO go physically to a branch and sit and sign and sign, only then you can go to an ATM and attempt to link / open online banking ! Then you have to have, for whatever reason - their app installed on your phone, before any online banking will work. The level of totally unnecessary "security doors and keys" is mind boggling, and at the wrong stage - when the account is empty and transactions are not possible ! I never had this before, not here, not with european banks.

Now I keep receiving messages that someone has logged into my account online, where this is .. not the case ! ***** line offered me in a cold voice to block the account last night, i instruct them NOT to block it, seeing a new can of whims and a new hell of - frozen account, sitting in queues at a branch somewhere to somehow unfreeze the thing and who knows what else. We have some disagreement on the phone, i get upset the word s**t slips out, the guy on the other side start treating me like a ******** and threatens me that he will put the phone down, which he subsequently does (!), totally ignoring my perfectly valid explanation that this was not aimed at him but at the service so far .. Names of operators with cold voices who certainly hate you - Yes - 2 times same thing : Lewelin Blake, Lawrence Shia

I am then put on hold forever - they block me from calling back the only open line on weekends.

Calling Investec this morning to see if the funds xfrerred and sitting somewhere in the ether will bounce back if i close the fnb account before the funds decide to enter fnb tomorrow or whenever.

Rule No 1 for remaining in SA : Avoid any service in any form - banking, internet, any - as much as you can. Bank of choice so far, if Investec wont accept you : Capitec !

This is it.
