TEM PAID NO FUNDS

I have a FNBy account . Last month and this one there were a few transactions stating ITEM PAID NO FUNDS which in total took more than R300 from my accounting placing it in overdraft.That meant that when I got money it would be used for the overdraft . Every time I make a transaction I ensure I have money first so how is possible that all of a sudden im being charged
