tap-to-pay feature disable request denied

I've been with FNB for less than a year and already find myself struggling with a simple issue. Over a month ago, I visited my provider to request the deactivation of the tap-to-pay feature on my card. The consultant informed me that this wasn't possible and that the only solution they could offer was enforcing a PIN requirement. This tap-to-pay feature has been inconsistent and, given the rising number of cyber crimes, it's not a viable option for me.

I’ve even called customer service to ask if the feature can be disabled, but I received a firm "no" as a response. It's concerning that a major company like FNB doesn't offer its clients the basic option to enable or disable features on their cards, especially when other big banks do.

Please understand that you are not in a position to dictate what I can or cannot do with my card. If I don't want a feature, I should have the ability to decline it—simple as that. I would appreciate it if someone from head office could contact me to resolve this issue. And I don't want to hear that it's "in the pipeline." It's time to take action, especially considering the high levels of crime in South Africa that aren't improving
