TAP and GO facility on FNB Credit Card
I called FNB on the 13/11/2019- and a consultant returned my call on the 14/11/2019- My concern is about their new function on their Premier Credit Card- the card according to the bank has a built in function - Tap and Go - after much discussion with the bank this morning - I have been Advised by their customer complaints section as well as a bank consultant that they are not able to de-activate this functionality on their Credit cards- they are also not able to activate a pin to be used should someone not authorized tap my card. I was informed today and yesterday that the Tap and Go facility allows for a Tap and Go up to the value of R500- that yes you will get a beep on your phone but then the onus is on you as the card holder to check every time there is a beep as yes, ********** could be in a shopping line with you and tap your card with a devise that they have. I have told FNB that this is unacceptable - I have requested that they de-activate this functionality or allow me to have a pin to activate the transaction - both are not available and FNB is not at all concerned as its not the bank that will need to pay the bill should I be **********ly tapped. they have advised that they are sending a complaint regarding the above to their credit card division. But in the mean time I as a client, am left feeling insecure as there is no protection should my cards get ****** or tapped, and FNB sadly, has little or no interest to resolve the issue- unconcerned that I will be looking for a bank that takes my concerns seriously.
