Switch to FNB made easy... not so!

I sent a request online to switch to FNB. I got surprised when they system said I already have an account and need to register for their online banking service. I've never had an account with FNB. So I tried again and clicked the option to be contacted. A consultant called me by the end of the afternoon - which was impressive how quickly they contacted me. When she started taking my details, she mentioned having an address on their records that I stayed at over 3 years ago. Said she can't and won't update my address as this can only be done by going to a branch even though they would collect my FICA docs when they deliver the bank cards. I protested and said this doesn't seem fair on me because I now need to make effort to go to a branch when I didn't want to have to do that through this process of signing up with them - as they advertise, it's easily done over the phone. I also questioned why they have my records when I've never held an FNB account before. I explained that I remember completing an online application for registering a business and applying for a business bank account some years back but never heard from FNB since. The consultant wasn't interested in helping me so I refused to continue with the application. I've never been a client of FNB and yet when I want to, I'm being presented with extra obstacles! I'm discouraged to sign up and want an explanation around why they have my records as if I am or have been a customer of the bank.
