STUCK IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY COURTESY OF FNB

Good morning FNB, This serves to confirm that my FNB bank cards has been blocked since the beginning of March 2019 for no apparent reason and without prior notice. Having been a customer of FNB for the best part of ten years, the treatment I have been subjected to in the past few weeks by FNB is quite deplorable to say the least.

Note my complaint as follows: 1.) I am currently out of the country (RSA) and I have been greatly inconvenienced as I have not been able to access my funds or any banking functions of which I am entitled to i.e. ATM, POS payment, online transactions, etc. for almost a whole month through no fault of my own and simply because FNB chose to block my bank cards without notification! 2.) As much as I understand the need for the bank to follow administrative processes such as updating of records, it is grossly unjust and bordering on ********* for the bank to hold my funds “at ransom” without prior notice that my accounts will be blocked. 3.) No reason has been given to me why my accounts were blocked. Surely, updating of records and documentation cannot entail this action unless I have been identified as a ********? May the bank please confirm this! 4.) The bank has cost me a substantial amount of money in my quest to resolve this matter and I doubt the bank will be able to reimburse me for the following: Cost of phone calls to FNB via international roaming Loss of business opportunity due to lack of access to funds in my account Bills due Denial of my right to purchase goods and services Cost of making alternative arrangements while out of the country in order to survive Additional out of country expenses i.e. extension of accommodation stay, etc. Unable to book a flight back to South Africa due to blocked cards. 5.) Given the above, I will have no option but to urgently seek the intervention of the Ombudsman and the Consumer Protector if the situation remains unresolved today.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER AS I AM NOW STUCK IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY THANKS TO FNB!!!!!
