Stranded in Europe and FNB wont help

I was travelling for work and pleasure 3 weeks ago when I was pickpocketed in Venice on my day of arrival. Needless to say, I lost all my cards and funds that were in my purse.

I phoned FNB as soon as I got to the hotel, and was told by Private banking they couldn't cancel my cards, Visa needed to do so. I called Visa, who then informed me that FNB needs to approve of the cancellation. I waited 4 days for FNB to cancel my cards, I asked VISA for emergency card/cash, but FNB had to approve and they were not getting back to Visa. 6 Days later FNB approved. Meanwhile, I was in a country where no one understood me, with 20 Euros.

I had an extended layover in London for a flight back to SA, where I had 40 pounds that were issued to me from FNB, but they issued me with 5-pound notes. The UK does not except these 5 pounds anymore as they have replaced these monies. So I couldn't use the money I had to but food with, because FNB and the reserve bank clearly don't even know what is being used by countries, but claim to be the best. No wonder we are in a recession.

FNB did not help me, they left me in country without money, that meant I had to go to bed without eating dinner and then by the time I get back to SA, after ordering my cards, they take their time to deliver, I asked for Monday, they didn’t arrive, only arrived the Thursday after I had to beg for FNB and their couriers to do so, which in turn I was told, it was inconvenience to deliver at the time I had asked for the delivery.

It is madness to think that your worst nightmare will become a reality when travelling, it is also madness to think the institutions that are there are not willing to help. They take my private banking fee every month with a smile, but when you a reduced to nothing, stranded and alone, and terrified, they couldn’t care less.
