Spousal benefit ****

I opened a premier account in university (December 2019) after FNB pitched this package to us because the spousal benefit was attractive as I was going to be married. I was assigned a banker to help me with the account and that was where it all went downhill.

She did not inform me that there was a hold on my account which made it very difficult to complete my employment contract with the department of health in January. I had to go to a branch to sort it out. I was promised 6 months free banking but was still billed the banking fees for January 2020 which I had to sort out through her.

In February of 2020 I asked this same banker over WhatsApp (I have the messages to prove this) to open a spousal premier account for my husband, which she did. Only he was being charged the full bank charges and not given the spousal discount. In March of 2020 I contacted the lady to inform her of this and ask for the difference owed to us to be refunded and she promised to sort it out. Again I contacted her in June with no results, and then again in August. In November of 2020 I contacted her AGAIN because we were still being charged the full R219 per month. She did not sort it out. I have WhatsApp messages to prove all of these instances.

In December of 2020 I went in to the branch and they said the spousal account wasn't linked to mine which they did for me but the charges still are the full premier account charges. I was asked to email FNB to complain, which I did (Complaint Reference ***). I was sent system generated emails until 3 weeks later (January 2021) where I was referred BACK to the inefficient banker that I had in the first place who, predictably, did not help me at all.

It has been 13 months of me begging FNB to sort this out and honestly I am so disappointed in this bank. I think it says a lot for my patience that it took this long for me to reach Hello Peter but I am frustrated enough to take this up with the CGSO if I don't get this sorted out.

Please refund me the money that was deducted from my husband's account unfairly and ensure that he is receiving the spousal discount.

Thank you.
