Smart Spend Loan
I have a SMART Spend FNB loan, which means that the interest is fixed over the period of the term, and the installment is the same for the remainder of the term. I've been making payments via EFT and have been doing so for a year without any issues. I tend to pay a little more on the loan to ensure I pay it off sooner than the loan end date.
For the past 3 years the loan amount has stayed the same, however this month when I downloaded the statement all of a sudden the loan amount increased by +- 700. I proceeded to phone FNB Loan department, someone looked into my query and said they can't help me I have to speak to the collections department, but they did note that my loan was restructured on the 12 July 2017. I phoned the collections department and spoke to a lady who then indicated that the premium went up because something on my loan changed. She then mentioned it must be because I'm not paying via debit order. I requested who informed me that the premium would be going up when the agreement indicates fixed interest, fix installment over the period of the term. She then asked whether I phoned to amend something, and I then said NO. I proceeded to indicate that although I'm not paying the loan via debit order, I am paying it via EFT and also paying it a few days earlier than the stipulated loan amount AND paying more than the agreed amount as per the signed contract. Which would then mean that the installment should stay the same.
I said that I prefer paying via debit order, and she indicated that I should rather set-up a debit order. I then said I'm comfortable with a Debit order if nothing will change. She said no the everything will stay the same as per agreement of the loan. She indicated that she will log a complaint but no-one can assist me immediately and I had to wait another two week and I must call back for an update
Today I log into my FNB banking app, download the loan details and to my surprise, here appears a Form27, which indicates that the loan amount will be debited from the Capitec account - which is not the correct banking details AND the amount went up again with a further amount of R100.
I need someone to give me call to get this matter sorted as a matter of urgency. I want to go back to paying the amount via EFT as we can clearly see that any amount will be debited irrespective of what the agreed amount has been. I don't want a debit order as I can't afford FNB debiting the wrong amount as they see fit.
Hope to get this resolved as a matter of urgency.
