Smart Devices: misleading, dishonest, or false advertising
Took out a smart device with FNB as follows: Samsung A31 128GB + Free Samsung Galaxy Buds+ valued at R2 999
Wow Factor Redeem your Free Samsung Galaxy Buds+ valued at R2 999 on the Samsung Members platform by the 07th of September 2020
We took several screenshots of the offer before it was recently removed. Latest being the 29th of August 2020.
Placed the order about the middle of August to make sure we get the contract done before the 7th of Sept 2020. Received the phone and went onto the Samsung Members platform. Then we discovered the claim period was not September but August and there was a 4000 quantity limit.
The offer should have been 7th of August and mentioned the 4000 quantity limit.
I called the call centre, they passed me from Sales to Smart Devices and wanted to pass me back to sales. They took the details and came back late after their own turn around time.
Received and email that states it is our fault for not placing the order in July 2020.
This is misleading, dishonest, or false advertising. Before going to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) I decided to first make a complaint at HelloPeter to see if this can be resolved.
Possible resolution would be to give me the Buds as per the original offer or alternatively the cash equivilent.
Since we had to go through the 2nd complaint process, we cannot change this to a 5 star.
