Sloppy assessment leading to a delay in-the payout of a funeral claim
On 29 December I submitted a claim for a funeral policy. According to the FNB Funeral Policy Documents. claims are processed and paid out within 48 hours. . After several attempts at following up, I was ONLY informed on the Friday 02 December that I would have to get a statement form signed by the police, this is despite the fact that this was a natural death as indicated on the death certificate and on the Burial Order Form and Notice of Death Form. Also it was long after the promised turnaround time. On Monday I submitted the signed statement from the SAPS and 72 hours later, the funeral claim has not been paid out.

14 Jan 2026, 13:09A week later I after FNB sent me a generic reply, and I still have not received the funeral policy payout for a claim that was submitted on the 29th of December despite submitting all the paperwork that was requested. I keep getting generic messages that the claim is being assessed. This was for a natural death as indicated in all the paperwork I submitted including the police statement that I had to go to SAPS to be completed. This is ********** and I can’t wait to take my banking elsewhere!!!
