Shocking Customer Care Yet Again
Shocking customer service from FNB. After alerting the bank to the fact that my pin had been blocked while overseas (a fact I have told them more times than I can remember) I was instructed that the only way to rectify the problem was over the phone (at international call rates). SIX hours Later with a R1000 international phone bill, I was forwarded from department like a tennis ball: (***** sent me to online, online sent me to accounts, accounts sent me to credit, credit sent me back to *****) and guess what? I am still stranded overseas with no access to my own money - the money I pay the bank to look after. One of seventeen customer service people I spoke to redirected me to ‘***’ as a last resort which I found ironic as they don’t even reply to the email you send them. The fact that they can leave a verified customer stranded in a foreign country is appalling. All they have to do is generate a 4 digit number but this, it seems, is too much of a challenge for this multi billion rand corporation. The departments do not speak to each other, and there is zero accountability. It seems there is a deep systemic problem with the entire organization. I will be changing banks as soon as I can figure out how I am going to survive the next few days with no money. Never mind the R1000 I hemorrhaged on a phone bill that amounted to nothing, or the two working days of my life that I lost on the matter. There seems to be zero infrastructure to support clients overseas when they are at their most vulnerable.
