Shady Loans from FNB
I accepted a loan offer from FNB on 18 December 2020. I received a message that the transaction is successfully completed, but the funds never reached my account. I enquired about it bye phoning their Loans department. The consultant informed me that there is a second profile on their system with my ID number - and that the conflict prevents them from transferring the funds. The conflicting profile was an old defunct business account. He referred me to the branch where they would combine the profiles, paving the way for the loan funds to be paid to my account. The branch could not perform this task. They asked me to phone loans again. Loans transferred mw to the Business Accounts dept - who dropped my calls repeatedly. The branch consultant and his supervisor advised me to take an overdraft instead, and then to cancel the loan. I did so, and immediately started my efforts to cancel the loan. In spite of my efforts, no-one acknowledged or responded on my messages, mails, complaints or phone calls. The loan funds were simply transferred to me on 22 December. I've continued to try to reverse the process with no response from anyone at FNB. O 4 January, a loans consultant took my call and advised me to return the funds, and that the loan account will then be closed. I returned the money and they never closed it - keeping it open with a negative balance of R1262.49. I have since enquired numerous times about the closure of the account with no meaningful responses from anyone at FNB Loans. On 05 February, they simply deducted the R1262.49 from my cheque account. This is thievery and dishonest.
