ROOBED DAY LIGHT
On 25 March 2016 my son deposited R700 from his Capitec Bank account to my FNB account. I did not check my bank balance to verify this transaction. Then on 23 April 2016, my son again deposited another R700 and on 24 April 2016, he further deposited R350. All these transactions were done through internet banking. I checked my bank balance on 26 April and discovered that the monies were not reflecting. I then contacted my son and he sent me his proof of payments. It was then that I realised that he had used the wrong account number. My son contacted FNB and told them his story and the bank promised to contact the owner of the account where the money was paid in. The bank has now come back to say that person is not disputing receiving the money, however, he is not willing to pay it back. As for the bank, there is nothing that they do about it. In a situation like this, what does one do? How can I not get assistance from the bank or their legal department? How can a stranger receive R1 750 from another stranger (via the bank) and then refuse to give it back? Yes I do agree that the error was done by my son and not the bank, but why can't they help when asked to do so? My heart is bleeding and I hardly slept last night thinking about all the debts that money was meant for. I feel helpless and heartbroken. This cannot end like that. Is there anybody that can assist me get my money back from this *****?
