RMB erodes eBucks value from FNB upgrades

On 20 May I was advised by RMB Private Bander that, in considering the benefits in upgrading from FNB Premier banking to RMB, I will received inter-alia "Depending on your Ebucks level, you also qualify for additional rewards.". Logic suggests that an upgraded banking product would yield better benefits from my current position for the same spend patters. So for an additional R150pm I proceded and upgraded to RMB as of 2 Sept. However, my regular spend pattern provided me with Level 4 (and sometimes level 5) rewards on eBucks. I have since the upgrade noted that I remain on Level 2 and my Banker indicated then that the 'hurdles' and 'different' with RMB to reach reward levels. I spoke to the eBucks contact center today (Sumeer Hira) and he confirmed that indeed I will need to purchase additional 'private banking' products in order to qualify for higher rewards levels than Level 2.

This makes NO sense - I upgraded my product just to be told that the 'hurdles' are now also higher at the same spend level! This was not disclosed by the RMB banker who marketed the upgrade to me. Surely an analysis prior to the upgrade would have indicated that I will receive LESS benefit from eBucks. It is virtually impossible to calculate the change in points earnings oneself due to the complexity of the criteria matrix and to form a coherent picture of before and after.

Unless someone at eBucks is able to show me that indeed ebucks benefits are better for me at RMB than FNB then I expect to be taken back to FNB Premier with immediate effect. I expect a comprehensive before- and after impact analysis on my spend pattern to show me the actual shift in benefits! Would it be any different and to what extend at FNB Private Bank? Do't tell me to look at the Earnings tables on the eBucks website as it does not allow one to calculate the impact - it is too complex and does not have a calculator.

I would advise any prospective RMB customer to be careful before switching!
