Revictimisation of victims of ****mers by FNB

They do not even deserve a star. My wife’s account was hacked, most probably by an FNB employee or former employee who still has access to their system. Huge amount of money was taken. A case was opened with SAPS and FNB is currently conducting their own investigation. However, FNB is revictimising my wife by deducting almost R11 000 from my wife’s account every month while the investigation is still pending. They said the matter will be finalised within 30 days. They managed to recover certain amount of money which now reflect on cheque account. The revolving loan and credit Card which was never utilised until the hacking are the cause of the deductions according to FNB. We cannot access or use the account because no one at FNB cares to explain or update us about the funds reflecting on the account. If they manage to recover certain monies why they do not direct it to the respective accounts??? This is deliberate victimisation by fnb. Their client is left in the dark. Their investigators are useless and inconsiderate. Last month they took about 11000 for the compromised account yet they know the investigation is pending and today she got an sms and email letting her know about the same amount will be deducted this month too. 9/10 this money will never be returned into her account knowing how cruel these businesses are. They do not even have proper systems in place to assist their clients during stressful times. No one takes courtesy to update the clients about progress in investigation. The branch only assist with giving you a phone to make calls. Those at call centres make excuses after excuse. The ***** department personnel are always not available. You r just on your own. You end up thinking this is deliberately done by the bank to maximise profit. I wish I could get feedback from them… please help me help my wife. I am now considering getting lawyers involved, that also will be costly but I have no other option

In the cheque account we had about 50 000, but we cannot access the money because we do not know what is the extent of the damage, what the investigation will say. We r almost broke yet we have money stuck at FNB. As soon as the investigation is over we will close all FNB accounts and move to other banks where we will be valued. Close to R3 million of our money goes into FNB yearly, surely some other banks will value that kind of business. This ordeal started in the 28th of March 2025
