Retrenched but asked to provide proof of income...
I was recently retrenched and seeing as I have two Homeloans with FNB, I immediately contacted FNB regarding my options on future payments. I was directed to the collections department and the gentleman spoke to my wife and I in detail regarding three options, one specific option was to halt the bond for 12 months and once I find employment, I can opt to restart the bond with immediate effect. He then sends my wife the application forms which I fill in and send back to the appropriate department, I then receive an email requesting a list of documents, one being proof of income. My wife explained to the gentleman at the collections department that I was retrenched and do not want to default on the Homeloans therefore trying to make arrangements to avoid this, how do i provide proof of income when I was just retrenched. I sent through documents that we were sent specifically to halt the home loan payments for 12 months, making the bond term 21 years instead of 20.I was then informed that this application is to provide relief to payments for only 3 months. This entire process has been extremely difficult to fathom, I don't know if it is even worthwhile anymore.
