REQUEST FOR URGENT INTERVENTION AND ASSISTANCE FOR AN INCORRECT PAYMENT
My name is Lebogang Patsa and I am the Managing Director and Owner of Bokamoso Mining Construction & Plant Hire (PTY) Ltd, a valued client of First National Bank. I am reaching out to discuss an extremely urgent and important matter regarding a payment that was paid incorrectly into another account, which significantly impacted my business operations. On the 20th August 2025, I processed a payment via EFT (Pay & Clear) Ltd. However, on September 15, 2025, I was informed the funds had not yet cleared in the intended business account. I then contacted FNB, upon contacting First National Bank, I was reassured by your consultant that the funds had indeed left my account. After further investigation, it was discovered that I had mistakenly entered one incorrect digit when inputting their banking details. Consequently, instead of the funds being deposited into the correct ABSA Account, they were inadvertently transferred to a different ABSA account. Realising the gravity of the situation, I promptly visited the ABSA Greenstone Branch for assistance but was informed that they could not assist me directly and advised me to seek help from my bank, First National Bank. Subsequently, I went to the FNB Greenstone branch, where I was advised to fill out forms for a reversal of the transaction, despite noting that the forms indicated that "Pay & Clear" payments are typically non-reversible. On September 18, 2025, I reached out to FNB Business Banking and spoke with a consultant for over an hour. Unfortunately, she was unable to provide any viable solutions. The response was disheartening, and I was promised a call back from her supervisor, within an hour; however, I have yet to receive any follow-up. I am writing to kindly request your intervention in this matter. I acknowledge the protocols and procedures adhered to by FNB; however, it feels unjust for me to simply walk away from a significant amount of lost funds due to an honest error. I take full responsibility for the mistake in entering the bank details, but I am earnestly asking for FNB’s assistance in resolving this issue. It is my humble request that FNB reach out to ABSA (bank to bank) to discuss the possibility of retrieving the erroneously transferred funds from the incorrect ABSA account. Given the circumstances, I believe this approach could facilitate a more favourable outcome. I appreciate your understanding and attention to this matter. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to your prompt response to assist us in recouping the funds.
Warm regards Lebo Patsa
