REQUEST DENIED
“Without a RED ID, we won’t be able to assist in increasing the international limits on your card.” This is the answer I received from the FNB Foreign National Consultant. Well, I DO NOT HAVE a RED ID because as I clearly mentioned in my review I am still an asylum SEEKER after 20 years of being in South Africa. An asylum seeker is not a refugee. Only the latter receive a RED ID upon request. Now, according to Wikipedia, this is the definition of an Identity Document: “An identity document (also called ID or colloquially as papers) is any document that may be used to prove a person's identity.” I have provided to FNB the document that proves my Identity but apparently, it is not enough to help me, according to the law (Exchange Control Rulings). I have been in South Africa for more than 20 years, I got married in this land and my 4 children were all born in this country. I do not think the value of a human being is in the kind of papers they use. For me, it is simple ************** for reasons known by those who put in place all kinds of laws to justify it. The fact for one to be an asylum seeker for 20 years speaks volumes… I rest my case.
