REJECTED FNB CREDIT LIFE CLAIMS

Fnb life Claims - I contacted you at the beginning of the Covid 19 lockdown and was advised that I have valid claim and may claim so long as I send through a loss of income letter from my company which I did .Then you advised that I need to get my 3months bank statement and send through which i did .Then you rejected my claim advising that you cannot pay my claim. I then called in a second time and was advised that it was rejected as the UIF payment was reflected as paid from my company therefore it had been rejected and i explained that I did advise in my initially application mail that the UIF was paid to my company who then paid it to me.Then the consultant advised me to put through a new application which i did this time including my payslip which reflects that the payment is not my salary but a UIF payment. I received a reference on the 18 May 2020.When I received no response i called in this morning and i was told that you will not be honouring my claim and that the new reference is not found. I am utterly disgusted with the run around given by FNB as I am a loyal customer with you for years .It is disappointing to see other banks assist their customers but my own bank refuses to assist and instead leads me to take a COVID 19 loan to extend my debt for a further 5years to pay accounts with fnb that i have credit life policies for whereas the Credit life policy should pay for these. I would like for Fnb to honour my claim or I will be forced to go more public and also approach the ombudsman and all channels of communication. I await your response FNB.

Fnb has the audacity to send me a response that declines my claim once more this time .

Below is Fnb's response :
" In response to your complaint about declining your inability to earn an income claim on your FNB Life Customer Protection Plan (CPP), please note that the terms and conditions of your CPP policy, which were provided to you when you took up the plan, defines the inability to earn an income benefit as follows:

Unable or Inability to earn an income means you are incapable of earning an income from any occupation, work, job or business for any reason other than Disability.
This definition provides for situations where unemployment or any other circumstances prevent you from earning any income, or in other words, you experience a full loss of income.

Your employer has paid a portion of your salary with funds received from the Department of Labour?s Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) to you. As you are still receiving an income, even though it is reduced, you do not meet the requirements of the definition above and therefore you do not qualify to claim on this policy at this time.

If you do experience a full loss of income in future, please resubmit your claim together with the relevant documents. Kindly find attached the repudiation letter."

Fnb Life Claim lets look at " Unable or Inability to earn an income means you are incapable of earning an income from any occupation, work, job or business for any reason other than Disability. "I am unable to earn an income as due to the Covid 19 we were placed on lockdown by the goverment and yes I did suffer a loss of Income.Second to this in your Insurance does not state that a Total loss of Income needs to be suffered .In the insurance it states that "Unable or Inability to earn an income means you are incapable of earning an income from any occupation, work, job or business for any reason other than Disability."and I quote this directly from your email to me.

In respect to " Your employer has paid a portion of your salary with funds received from the Department of Labour?s Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) to you. As you are still receiving an income, even though it is reduced, you do not meet the requirements of the definition above and therefore you do not qualify to claim on this policy at this time. "This is still a UIF payment coming from the Unemployment Insurance fund to my employer which is paid to me which is not a salary.Fnb seems to be looking at ways to cheat its loyal customers.

If Fnb is unable to be loyal with its insurance claims as have i with my payments to the insurance I would like a total refund of the funds paid from inception refunded to me as I dont see it compulsory as stated when i took out my loan with you to have this insurance which is just taking my funds and of no assistance.

I await your response urgently before further action is commenced.
