Rejected debit still went off

I rejected a debit order mandate from outsurance as I did not buy the car , the debit still went off , when I spoke to fnb they said its not showing on their side I must come back tomorrow, how safe is our money at fnb if even a rejected debit order can go off. Pathetic service
