Refusing to update debit order

Over the past few months, since upgrading from my Platinum Cheque account to the private clients account, I have had the absolute worst service from FNB. Rediculous banking charges aside, debit orders incorrectly debited, the list goes on. I have countless emails back and forth with both my banker, as well as the private clients service suite.

Due to all these events from date of upgrade to today, I have decided to terminate my banking with FNB and switch over to Nedbank. I have a personal loan with FNB however, and I find myself again in a situation where the service from FNB is absolutely appalling. I phoned to update the debit order details last week, and several phone calls later, this is still not done, as your staff cannot get the verification right. One can verify using the app the other cant and needs to do a card verification. This morning I phone again, prepared with card in hand and again they refuse to update my debit order and are now demanding a letter on a company letterhead from my HR department confirming that my salary will be paid into my nedbank account as of April. I fail to understand why this is relevant? What does it matter where my salary is paid into? You need to debit my account, I'm telling you which account to debit and you are refusing to update the details.

True to FNB ****ty customer service fashion, she then politely wants to transfer my call to your collections department to make payment arrangements. I did not ask to make payment arrangements, I asked to update a debit order.

I am now done fighting with FNB to assist with this. If you debit order bounces a few times, I presume i'd have your collections department phoning me anyway and perhaps they would be more willing to assist and welcome the opportunity to obtain valid banking details for my debit order.

With all this, the next i'll hear is that the debit order is already submitted and that the change cannot be implemented until May's debit run in which case this months debit fails anyway. Again not my problem, and I will not be held liable. FNB is refusing to assist me in updating these details, and I will not pay any fees for bounced debit order etc.

This is absolutely rediculous and I have never been more glad to no longer be an FNB customer.
