Re: Unauthorized Car Insurance Deduction and Outstanding Loan Balance
Re: Unauthorized Car Insurance Deductions and Outstanding Loan Balance
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with the service I have received from First National Bank (FNB) regarding unauthorized car insurance deductions from my account and an outstanding loan balance.
In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I discovered that FNB had been deducting car insurance premiums from my account without my knowledge or consent. Despite not owning a car, these deductions continued, and my concerns were ignored. This has resulted in significant financial and emotional distress.
I have visited multiple FNB branches, including Vaal Mall, Meyerton, Vereeniging, Germiston, and Braamfontein, and spoken to various branch managers and customer service representatives. Unfortunately, none of these interactions have led to a resolution.
Furthermore, I had taken a COVID-19 loan of R450, which was not decreased despite the unauthorized car insurance deductions. When I requested to close the account, I was informed that I couldn't due to the outstanding loan balance.
I have provided extensive documentation, including bank statements, proof of accounts, and affidavits, to support my claims. However, FNB has failed to investigate and rectify this matter.
I urge you to take immediate action to:
Investigate and rectify the unauthorized car insurance deductions. Clear the outstanding loan balance, considering the incorrect debits. Assist in repairing my credit score.
I request a prompt response regarding the actions you will take to address this matter. If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will be forced to explore further options, including filing a complaint with the Ombudsman for Banking Services and seeking assistance from the South African Reserve Bank's Consumer Protection Department.
