RACIAL ************** IN BRANCH
On Monday, 21 December 2020, we attended the branch of FNB situated in Centurion Mall to attend to some business. After obtaining a ticket number we were directed to have a seat, which we did. Not even five minutes I was approached by an employee of FNB (black guy who was later identified as Raps[?}) and was told that we could not sit where we were seated as there was stickers on the floor indicating that you are not supposed to sit there, which we accepted and willingly moved to another spot. We are both from the white ethnic grouping. Whilst waiting very patiently for about 30 minutes plus before being assisted, I noticed that there were three people who were also seated at spots where their feet were positioned on the stickers indicating that you are not supposed to be seated there. However, nothing was done by any staff member to address these people or ordering them to sit at the appropriate spots, either when the staff members were walking past them or even when standing at the entrance to the branch, as these people were seated right in line with where they were standing at the entrance and nothing whatsoever obscuring their view. These clients were all from the black ethnic grouping, as was all the staff members who was visible to me during that period. Furthermore, one male person (black guy) came into the branch and was also waiting to be assisted. He was seated within five meters from us and was watching videos and listening to whatever on his mobile device out loud for everyone to hear, not having any consideration for anyone around him. Once more, no one was addressing him about the noise or asking him to stop playing the videos et cetera. Nothing! The staff just ignored it like it did not happen and everyone in a 10 meter radius from him was forced to listen to what he was playing on his mobile device. I have taken photos to support these facts and is available upon request.
