R28500 was ****** out of my husband FNB ACCOUNT

My name is Rafique Branquet On Tuesday 10/03/2023 I received a message that my package that I’m waiting on is due to arrive and I should pay the courier fee of R 35.90, At the bottom of the message it said pay, I pressed the pay sign as I am waiting on a package from Temu for a part for my vehicle , Please bear in mind this is the first time I bought something on line you can go through my bank records I have never purchased anything over R5000 not even with my card anyway the next thing I hear my phone go off and I almost got a stroke to see that R28550.90 went offf on my account.

I immediately phoned the bank ***) I was so stressed I cannot remember the ladies name, I explained to her as to what transpired and she put me thru to the ***** line and they immediately identified it as *****, So before anything was done I was branded as the one at fault I felt like I’m not going to be helped right from the beginning , I requested to have the pending transaction blocked and my card to prevent anything from happening further.I then received a case number from the ***** department as mentioned in the subject matter.

I then went to the bank(Woodstock Branch) and the way we were treated was like we committed this ***** crime, Instead of helping me and guiding me I was meant to feel worst than I am feeling already and all I was telling them was to please check that the card is cancelled and account is frozen as I see the transaction is still pending and to also block the pending transaction I was told they can’t block a pending transaction, I then started to question in my mind the reaction I’m getting in the bank is leading me to believe that maybe this crime is being committed in the bank, because the more questions we ask we get answers that don’t make sense.

I immediately went to the Police Station in my area which is Woodstock Police Station to make a case, The Policeman that assisted asked me if they ie. The Bank told me to come make the case I said “No", I told him I felt I’m not being helped by the bank and that’s why I came to the police station cause at the time I just felt its the logical thing to do, The officer told me that it is part of the process for the bank to tell me to come to the Police station to lay the case and they even failed to do that and that made me even more insecure.

I called the ***** department again and asked them to please have the pending transaction blocked and the gentleman on the line got very aggressive with me and told me that he can’t do that and that this is my fault that this happened I did not get he’s name but all calls are recorded from FNB so the evidence of what I’m saying should be there.

I started to really panic as I have a Business account and Private Clients account with FNB for years now and all I’m thinking is getting my money and business to another bank I can trust because all my trust for FNB is out the window all the way I felt unsafe.

I took my wife on this horrible journey as that was the only comfort for me, We went back to the Woodstock bank branch and asked to see the bank manager because maybe we will get a better result only to find out there’s no bank manage , another set back all we got was cold shoulders, A young lady came to us and said see will call a lady by the name of Nazley to assist us as see saw my wife start loosing her patience.

Nazley then took us into a room made some calls and took the ***** case number and the police case number ,she was shocked to see that I even had a police case number , She then told me seeing I have the police case number it will speeded up the process, I then brought it up again mind you I mentioned it more than ten times to her in that meeting ie. THE TRANSACTION IS SHOWING PENDING SO PLEASE HAVE THE PENDING TRANSACTION BLOCKED. She said she is going to phone the regional branch and see what they can do and give feedback before she finish off from work. To our surprise no call back no feedback.

The next day we went to the bank before they opened, Nazley opened the door saw us and went straight to the back and we waited then we asked one of the staff to call her. When she came she was very irritated and gave us a sob story that it is out of her hands and when my wife questioned her her answer was , I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU, We were stunned absolutely stunned.

Our conclusion in our minds were maybe this is an inside job, Because of these FNB staffs way of assisting us as there was no assistance , just a whole lot of bullying and aggression. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Please note I have worked very hard for my money this matter is not going to go under the rug and definitely not going down quietly. We are not the only victims of this kind of thing we did our homework , THERE ARE MANY OF YOUR FNB CLIENTS THAT WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING AND HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE.

This looks like this type of thing is going on for a long time now with many victims that suffered.

I’m Definitely migrating to another bank of my choice as FNB is not a safe place for me to take care of my money.

Im going to end off now and leave it in your hands. Regards Rafique

This was a horrible experience and we spoke to a woman by the name of Nazley at FNB in Woodstock Cape Town, we were told after sending this that there is nothing they could do! The money was still pending at the time and I ask if they could block it and she could not answer me!
