****py FNB
I have been an FNB private client client for many years. Recently due to ****py services from my private banker i decided to close my account. I was advised that an account can only be closed by going into the bank personally. So , being based in the south of jhb i went to the mall of the south . I was assisted by Mr Mpho, who advised that when the account is closed all accounts linked to that specific account will also be closed . I specifically inquired about my credit card. He advised that when he sent in the cancellation document all will be cancelled. Boy, was i ill advised. I went into the above branch on the 4th August, advised Mpho that i wanted to close the account as i owed nothing, he verified & proceeded with closure. I withdrew all funds that was due to me & received payment in cash. On the 28th of Jul'20 my credit card account was settled in full. I owed nothing.
On the 21 Aug i received a text from FNB showing that i owe R87,50. I was seriously confused & revisted that branch for assistance. I was advised that something was wrong with Telkom & they couldn't contact their private clients number (this was on the 24.08.20). I went back to the branch on 27.08.20 , Mpho was extremely helpful again. He could only log another call for resolution & advised about the customary waiting period. I received a mail this morning advising me that the branch at the mall of the south does not do credit cards? My word . How am i supposed to know this & why was i not advised by the branch? Where is this info posted on a public domain so that all customers can access that info?
I don't have an issue paying what i owe, but since communicating with *** ...total & utter waste of time. Nobody is advising on how to make that payment ? or was i wrongfully billed?
I am pleased to declare that i was contacted by FNB as soon as i published my frustrations on this site. My private banker called and apologised for his part in this scenario & as per his promise ,that account was closed & proof of that was emailed to me. I hope that this is a lesson for all , especially the character from the contact centre , who just spilled contact centre jargon at me (instead of reading & understanding ) my query with them.
regards
