Punitive home loan requirements
As a customer of FNB for roughly ten years, I feel that the conditions and documents imposed for the awarding of a home loan are overly punitive. I provided all the necessary records of my employment in the form of 3/6 month payslips, letters from employers (I have two sources of income) and other necessary documentation.

I was then asked to provide my employment contract. At the one company I have a verbal contract that defaults to the standard employment conditions as laid out by South African law (and I've been working there for the past 8 years with payslips and IRP5's to verify). At the second, I only have a copy of the contract as signed by me - the copy signed by both sources sits in document storage and is impossible to retrieve in the time before my offer-to-purchase expires.

I feel these requirements are overly harsh and do not show any loyalty to myself, a graduate/premier banking client that has been with the bank for over 10 years. I submitted my complaint via the bond originator to Kerwin Lee, home loan consultant and received no response.

As a result, I will be moving my accounts to either Standard Bank or Nedbank, both of whom have offered us a home loan.
