Private Client Service, more like Pathetic Client Service

The first issue arose when I requested information from my private banker Chadwin Tibbetts to action an international transfer, and he flatly ignored my request effectively blocking my finances. The second issue ocurred when I liquidated a Money on Call account, and when I received the closing statement I noticed that FNB have used the wrong address. I requested the address to be changed but Chadwin bluntly told me that it cannot be done, despite it being an administrative error on FNB’s side. I require the statement as proof of funding source, and he effectively blocked my finances again. The third issue is that when I requested a statement of my accounts, which must be in a different format from FNB’s standard format for a very valid reason (other banks can supply this statement, it is not unique), it was also ignored by Chadwin and thereby blocking my finances yet again.

After pressing the issue regarding the incorrect address on the closing statement, Sindi Maseko who is Chadwin’s assistant responded that it would take nine-days to correct. When I finally got hold of her via telephone, she told me that despite FNB acknowledging that it is their mistake they are only looking at it without any indication that they will correct it.

The issue around the statement of my accounts became the most pressing, and after a week of making numerous complaints on FNB’s website and on a public forum I got a call from Cynthia Vilakazi. She promised to resolve the issue before the end of the day (Friday the 14th of September 2018). From her attitude it was clear she was irritated to have to deal with my request on a Friday and did not even bother to fully understand my requirements. Instead she provided her version of a “solution” which will not only cost me money, but is disconnected from what was required. When I pointed this out to her no response were provided.

To date none of the issues have been resolved, despite numerous complaints and phone calls. FNB not only ignores its customers, it is more than happy to support its employees in what can only be described as a power play as they know all too well that customers are dependent on the bank for information. Stay away from FNB if you value your financial future.
