POSSIBLE ***** WITHIN MELVILLE FNB. CLIENT PERSONAL INFORMATION SHARED WITH THIRD PARTIES?
Yesterday Tuesday, the 6th of July 2021 around 10:15, I went FNB Melville Branch housed at Campus Square to do a change of physical address so that i can receive my account statements at my new address. I was attended by a male guy whose name i can't remember. I clearly explained the purpose of my visit in English. Instead of providing the service I have requested, he started to do several credit record checks with different credit bureau companies including experian, transunion, clearscore, splend and pulse without my consent. He went on to do some pre approval applications for a credit card, life cover and funeral policies again without my consent. He activated cellphone banking services and blocked the security future such that i can't use my password to open the cellphone banking profile. To make matters worse, this morning i woke up to several funeral policy companies enquiring if I'm interested in have a funeral policy. I tried to contact your *****line and complaints department but your consultants pretended as if they don't hear me over the phone. May you please explain to me what is going on in this Melville branch. Is it allowed by your company policy to do credit checks of your clients without their consent. Are you selling our personal information to the third parties?
I got a call from a lady who identified herself as the FNB Melville Branch manager. From the way she spoke, i can now be confidentially say that there is something wrong happening at that branch. Instead of address my complaint regarding the reason why the consultant went on to check my credit record and do a pre approval application for a credit card, the lady the said the system does it automatically even if a client doesn't not request such service. I asked her why is it that consultant **** to me that the client biometric verification system was offline, the manger failed to give a clear answer on that question. She tried by all means to defend her subordinate. Even though she said she is going to carry out an investigation,i doubt if she is going provide a reliable outcome. The following are my concerns:
My cellphone banking profile is still unsecured.
My credit score has gone down by 4 points due to the unauthorized credit check done by your consultant.
Why did he lie that the biometric verification system is off line.
The manager was more defensive instead of being responsive to my complaint.
I would like to request an intensive investigation on the operations at this branch. Failure from your side to provide a satisfactory response on this matter, I will left with no choice but to escalate this issue to the Banking Ombudsman and need be required, legal action against FNB.
