POPI Act Failure

My personal cellphone number is linked to a different FNB client’s account. I went to my local FNB branch but was told to contact FNB Customer Care. On 26 November 2021 I called FNB (Premier) Customer Service, but I was transferred to *****. ***** insisted that they are not able to help and then transferred me back to Customer Service (Premier) who in turn transferred me back to ***** and ***** transferred me back to Customer Service. I was also told by Customer Services to go to a branch as it can only be sorted out in a branch.

I left a query on FMB website on 26 November 2021 but no response from FNB.

01 December 2021 I phoned Premier Customer Service again but this time I was transferred too Digital. After absolutely losing my cool, the agent placed me on hold for over 10 minutes. This was done because he did not want to transfer me to a Supervisor as per my request.

I left another query on FNB website on 1 December 2021 but no response from FNB.

Beside the fact of having to deal with total incompetence and annoyance of receiving sms notifications from FNB for a bank account that does not belong it me, I fail to understand why nobody is able to assist me with this matter. I fail to understand the pure rudeness of the agent in your Digital Department. I fail to understand how FNB is perfectly fine with going against the POPIA act.

If I have not received feedback, an apology and a resolution by end of day, I will refer the matter with all call recordings to the Information Regulator (South Africa) as well as The Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Ombudsman for Banking Services.
