Poor service - Fiduciary Cape Town and FNB Care
My mom passed away during May 2017. Her estate is mainly a bank account held with FNB and an unbonded property. Distribution is 50/50 to myself and my brother. On 2 Oct 2019 the final distribution account was recieved - 28 months (2 years 4 months) for completion! Other than the persons working on this account I am not aware of any complications.
After 18 frustrating months of requesting feedback and asking what happens next emails were returned "undeliverable". During a later phone conversation the department head mentioned the person was fired. After re-establising contact with FNB we were assured by the department head that her department does not operate like this - a 25% discount on fees was also offered. Weekly feedback was promised but on average it was not even monthly. Service from the fiduciary department (Cape Town) as well as the attorneys appointed by them became even worse. Although the department head said there would be a discount on attorney fees she accepted an increased (plus R3 962.34) amount. She still has not answered as to why she would accept this for such poor services. My communications (and often lack thereof from her side) with the department head goes a long way in explaining why staff and attorney may operate like this without penalties.
4 Detailed email complaints since Dec 2018 to FNB Care remain unanswered - not even an acknowledgement of reciept or a ref number from them.
As the property remained empty and could not be sold during this period a potential financial loss also applies here - levies and maintanance costs also had to be paid.
It has been a time consuming frustrating and stressful experience - the complete opposite of what a department like this should be delivering as a service.
I live overseas and can only be contacted by email.

I requested (twice) more information regarding this from FNB. They rep**** that it was a deed that was "not received" from the beneficiaries and therefor the beneficiaries are responsible for the costs of replacement.
In the 28 months FNB took to complete this estate the deed nor the additional costs were mentioned to the beneficiaries. It was mearly added to the final account.
They have also advised that they are now in the process of closing their files.
After multiple detailed complaints since December 2018 FNB Care has finally responded by email: they refer me back to the very department I am complaining about - including their phone mumber. And I should advise them if I require further assistance.
WOW what an experience!
