Poor Service

After my negative experience with Standard Bank where they have constantly taken off R65 up to 3 x pm without justification (my whole salary reflected on my account), I decided to switch over to FNB. I went online where they advertised that one could open an account hassle free within 5 minutes. I did that and on the 10th of November, received a call from one of their reps, Ncali. She was pleasant and helpful and we spent close to an hour on the phone. I changed my personal details, incl my address since I had an account with FNB previously. I even SPELLED out everything for her. I was told that I did not have to go into a branch and that a courier would deliver my card. All I needed was a proof of residence and ID.

To date, I am still sitting with no card. I received several sms's from FNB advising me to activate my account and to collect my card from my nearest branch.

Attached, 2 copies of sms's received. FNB :-) Congratulations MS HARRIS on opening your new FNB Gold Encore Account, ******xxccx. Activate your account by making a deposit & start enjoying great value, beneifts & rewards. Your card is available at your nearest FNB Branch. Ts&Cs apply. FNB a div of FRB Ltd FSP 3071

On Friday, 20 Nov, I made the trip into Vredenburg, my nearest town which is about 15 km's from where I live, waited about an hour in line. I was told by the rep who assisted me, after I told him that it is almost 2 weeks I have been waiting for my card, that that is what happens when one opens an account via the phone or online. Why advertise that service???? Again he was charming and friendly, typical sales pitch, but I left without a card, which meant that I could not close my account with Standard as I would have no means to purchase or pay. I went bacl to FNB and was told I would have to pay *R120* for a temporary card...REALLY? When I objected, saying why should I pay for a card, when I was initially told my card would be ready within at least 48 hours he told me to go home and wait until Monday(today) for an sms from FNB.

So, for everyone out there falling for these Billion Dollar Corporations, pitching their services, I have news for you...

I have been banking with these 2 banks in question since 1985...

I am absolutely appalled at the Lack of respect and service.

I am closing my money market and every other account and I will go where the service is better. I am in the service industry where 110% is not enough...here I PAY for my own money, and this is my experience

I will keep you updated... Dissatisfied Client (I am much better off keeping my cash under my mattress. I pay no fees and it is safer) Carol
