Poor Service

I am very disenchanted in FNB. It was recently brought to my attention that I still have a credit card unsettled balance and believed that the account was settled as I never received any correspondence or phone calls in relation to this. I had a stop order loaded on my Absa bank account since inception, and according to an FNB consultant, there is no reason stipulated on system why the debit orders were ceased.

I was also under debt review in 2011 / 2012 hence payment was still made and can't remember as to when or how payments stopped. After all these years, 4 or 5 weeks ago I was contacted by Groenewald Lubbe Attorneys as the account was handed over to them. I laid a complaint already as the lady who contacted me from Groenewald Attorneys was very unprofessional and uncouth, and I was not allowed to ask questions. Nevertheless I got a courtesy phone call from Groenewald with an apology.

Monday a lady by the name of Thandiwe from FNB called and told me that my complaint was forwarded to Groenewald, she wasn't very helpful or explained anything in detail to me. I asked her if payment was not made on the account why wasn't I contacted by FNB and advised accordingly, she responded by saying that it's not FNB's duty to contact the debtors. I asked her must I now liaise with Groenewald and not FNB and she rep**** "Yes". I was dazed by that response because according to my knowledge when you are in arrears with any accounts the “lending institution” contacts the “debtor” and makes necessary arrangements. I wasn’t granted with this opportunity to re-arrange my instalments or stop order, as a result of this tardy service I now owe almost R20 000-00 which is deplorable.

I refuse to deal with Groenewald Attorneys as this matter could have been dealt with in a correct manner with no EDC’s/Third Parties involved, if I was just contacted within the 30 days arrear period, this would never have emerged. With all the legal fees, communication fees and accrued interest after all this time, this is irrational that I am now liable to pay this. Does FNB's logo really mean what they say? How can we help you?

I don't have that kind of money to pay Attorneys and can make arrangements with FNB to pay my account who I personally think they could have helped me.
