Poor service

<p>I visited Willowbridge, Tygervalley branch today to apply for a student loan for my son who is a final year Mechanical Engineering student at Stellenbosch University. The consultant who assisted me did an online application which was immediately declined. She could not provide me with a proper reason. I then spoke to the Branch manager Mr Chris Theunissen, who was extremely helpfull. He phoned student loans who informed him that the application was declined because i went on pension on the 31st of December 2017. They did not bother to do a background or credit check. The fact that I wil receive a guaranteed monthly income or lumpsum not taken into account. No checking on how i manage my accounts- nothing. What FNB is actually saying is that they do not assist pensioners. I have never app**** for a student loan for any of my children. My wife is still in a professional occupation. They did not even bother to check that. FNB tells me i can not afford a R80000 student loan. Is this a joke. I would like for someone from student loans to contact me and tell me on what grouns did they make this decision before i make a final decision regarding me and my wifes accounts</p>
