Poor response time lead to loss of R5 000

I was at the FNB ATM in Durban North, at the Pick n Pay Hypermarket. When a guy ran up behind me, leaned over me and touched something on the ATM screen and then ran off.
I immediately signalled the guard, who told me to cancel my card.
I called the number on the ATM screen to report my card lost/****** as the ATM machine had swallowed it, however the FNB number provided was busy and it cut me off, I redialled the number and was told that the line was busy due to there being a high volume of transactions at that time, after 15 minutes I managed to get through to the operator to cancel my card. In the 15 minute period R5 000 was withdrawn from my account.

All this could have been avoided had the FNB line been able to take my call, as the fist withdrawal only occurred 4 minutes after the ATM tampering and had I been able to get through to FNB my card would have been cancelled.

It's highly pathetic that an emergency number for such an important task not be given adequate resources or operators to be able to perform its function properly.

FNB's poor services lead to me loosing R5 000, this is disgusting and highly unacceptable.

All I have been given is a case no:263 812.
