Poor customer service from FNB
Since early 2021 I have had a problem with a credit card account at FNB which I was told I would qualify for as part of my package but subsequently they advised me my credit card was declined ,I never received a card and the account was never activated.
However upon accidentally having transferred money online(all my savings as a student) into this credit card account I was unable to retrieve it as it was not an activated account. It took over 3 months to get it transferred back out.
Then after them having transferred it out they left around R4.5 in there(the interest earned on this amount) and after having seen so they decided to deduct roughly R6 which then put me in arrears of around R 1.5 resulting in me then being charged in the following months an initiation fee, account fee and service fee. Once again on an account that was never activated.
After having gone into a branch waiting several hours and told it can only be solved on the phone with the credit card department. I have had many long calls re-explaining the same thing with either people telling me they just simply cannot or will not help me but that I should rather just pay the arrears amount (need I remind you It is FNB that put me into the arrears position) or they transferred me to another person who I would then have to re-explain it to again. I would eventually get someone who apologizes and assures me it will be resolved with the overdraft being cleared. only for it to charge me account and services fees the next month, which would then create an arrears starting the cycle once again. This has been going on for almost a year and a half .
One would think one of the worlds most highly distinguished banks could sort something like this out. This has caused me countless frustrations and a great loss in respect for their customer service displayed by some of their employees. Not to mention that my credit score has been severely impacted as I have technically been continuously missing my credit card payments and being in arrears (which when I asked about the impact on my credit score from one of these employees they simply put the phone down on me)
The bottom line is that I have been charged initiation fees ,service fees, account fees and interest on arrears by FNB on an account that they
