PMT honour fee

I have been charged 499 for a PMT honour fee from fnb when I called the call centre I was told that it's for swiping amounts that went of my account when there wasn't enough funds, why would I swipe knowing that I don't have enough funds in my account and for so many items??? Please clarify this matter.
